Bio
These days you will find Tera Taylor busier than ever. But this full-time mom and budding Christian artist is not complaining at all. She will tell you that she is blessed beyond measure and living life to the fullest. Tera has faced disappointments, like all of us, yet she chooses to glory in the goodness of God and the brightness of tomorrow. As a matter of fact, her newly released CD entitled “Living For Your Love” serves as a testament of Tera's faith. This CD is more than a musical project. It is a diverse collection of ten songs, which proclaim her passion for her Creator and express her deepest love for God and family. To Tera, “Living for Your Love” is not just a title of a song, but a way of life.
If you spend much time with Tera it soon becomes evident that Christian music is her heartbeat. This seasoned music minister began singing in church at the tender age of five. The eldest of two daughters, Tera was raised in a musical family. Her mother sang in church and her grandmother sang and wrote songs. Tera’s own musical gift was apparent early on to her family and fellow church members. She began singing harmony with her mother at that young age.
As a teenager, Tera sang background vocals for a long-time family friend, Ferlin Husky. This legendary country western artist saw Tera’s potential and asked her to join his group, the Dove Background Singers. This once shy Kentucky girl immediately felt at home on the stage, singing to audiences night after night on the Ferlin Husky Jubilee.
In the middle of chasing her musical dream Tera felt compelled to return to her roots. Hungering for more than just applause, she sought a new church home. Tera was saved at a young age but longed to be part of a church family and to be closer to the Lord. She became a member of a small Pentecostal church in East Nashville where she grew spiritually and became grounded in God’s Word. There she was introduced to a godly young man by the name of David Taylor. David and Tera were married on December 12, 1992.
Soon Tera and David moved to Orlando, Florida where Tera completed her music degree. While in Florida, Tera was very involved in the music department at her local church. Tera no longer desired to perform but rather desired to be used of God to minister through song. Tera became prayerfully aware of the importance of God’s anointing on her life and music. She dedicated herself to sing for the glory of God.
Tennessee beckoned the Taylors once again so they packed their bags and moved back home to Nashville in 1996. Since that time, they have been active members of the First United Pentecostal Church in West Nashville. Tera is an integral part of the music team as a regularly scheduled soloist, choir member, praise team member, and member of Vertical, (a youth praise team). She also has been very active in the Ladies Ministries and Sunday School ministries.
These days Tera has two special reasons to sing. She has a newfound passion. God has blessed David and Tera with two wonderful children, Drew and Emma. Drew is four years old and baby Emma is 8 months old. Now in her early thirties, Tera wears many hats; mother, wife, friend, and most recently, Christian artist. She has survived bottles, diapers, and potty training with Drew and is in the thick of it again with Emma but loving every minute of it.
Like many working
mothers in this fast paced society, Tera multi-tasks to carry out all of her
responsibilities. But she has learned to
slow down because these are the days that Tera lives for, to have
the love of her children, husband and God embracing her each day. When asked why she chose this title for her
new CD, she will tell you, “…in Him we
live, move, and have our being…” It’s
very simple. I owe my life to Him so
without question, I want to proclaim to my God, I am “Living for Your
Love.”
